Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide direct services, including crisis intervention, case management, emotional support, legal advocacy, and safety planning to those who identify or are identified as victims/survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and other victims of crime. The Specialist will provide follow-up services for SART-DV survivors seen at local hospitals. The position will provide these services in a variety of settings, including in the community, to support our community partnerships, as well as across the YWCA Women's Resource Center service areas.

Job Duties:

  • Provides crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, legal advocacy, information, and referral services to victims/survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, sex trafficking, and other victims of crime.
  • Primarily provide face-to-face services and work to support our community-based.
    partners.
  • Provide follow-up and wrap-around services identified through the Sexual Assault
    Domestic Violence Response Team.
  • Work as a part of a coordinated community response to support victims of crime.
  • Provide crisis intervention services to survivors in other service areas of the YWCA
    Women Services, as it pertains to services to support victims of crime.
  • Complete daily and weekly data logs, time sheets, client demographics, and input of client data into Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) within 24 hours of providing services to the survivor.
  • Follow the YWCA, COA, MCADSV, and funding requirements for the data collection on
    the proper forms.
  • Submit data weekly.
  • Maintain up-to-date case files at all times.
  • Assist with coverage of the Crisis Line and Sexual Assault Response Team domestic violence calls.

Formal Education/Experience:

  • B.S. in Social Work, Psychology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault including dating violence, stalking, human trafficking, or other dangerous or life-threatening conditions that relate to violence against the individual or a family member, including a child.
  • Experience in community networking, case coordination for multi-disciplinary teams, and providing a safe environment for victims/survivors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to complete a 48-hour domestic and sexual violence training, including safety planning, lethality, and suicidal assessments.
  • Must comply with the rules and regulations of the YWCA, local hospitals, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Requires the ability to walk, bend, and lift occasionally (up to 10-15 lbs.).
  • This position is a desk job that requires walking between offices, driving to meetings, and lots of moving around when helping with large events.
